When Gena Barth, a marketing and advertising manager for Lucas Metal Works in Ochelata, Okla., sought marketing communications help, she went to Oklahoma State University. There, she met Dan Tilley, NPDC assistant director, and Cindy Blackwell, NPDC communications director. Not knowing what to expect, Barth applied for the marketing communications project, and NPDC marketing communications interns Evin Goss and Samantha Davidson were assigned to the project in fall 2007.
“I had no expectations of the program,” Barth said. “It was something new I had not heard of.”
Goss and Davidson met with Barth in August to discuss and evaluate current promotion methods. Their goal: To create a unified image for Lucas Metal Works and Lucas Metal Works’ product, The Ground Hog.
“Our materials were not cohesive,” Barth said. “The Web site, brochures and advertisements didn’t match. Now, everything flows together. It looks great.”
Barth said working with NPDC interns was a wonderful experience and it was extremely beneficial to the company. The project was completed in December 2007.
“The program is fantastic,” Barth said. “Anyone who uses the program will be benefitted. We thank the NPDC for the opportunity to be part of the program, and we look forward to helping the interns in any way possible."
